Working time

Part-time (min. 80%) or full-time position for negotiation, beginning as of January 2023.

We are looking for a new Head of Unit for the Innovation with Purpose (IWP) team. The team follows the mission of driving transformative innovations and purpose together with businesses, NGOs and policy makers towards sustainability. Such multi-stakeholder transformation processes to support Sustainable Consumption and Production are linked to topics like sustainable value chains, digitalisation, and Circular Economy. Activities in the team include capacity building for SMEs, strategy development of large companies, portfolio assessment, policy analysis and multi-stakeholder dialogues, being developed in projects in Europe and beyond. The former name of the team was “Sustainable Business and Entrepreneurship (SBE)”.

Your tasks will be to:

  • Provide strategic, people and operational leadership to the IWP team
  • Develop new business opportunities and lead acquisition and proposal development on the topics of purpose-driven business models, transformative innovations, sustainable digitalisation and Circular Economy
  • Engage with public- as well as private-sector project funding, including strengthening CSCP’s positioning outside Europe
  • Provide strategic and financial supervision and project management for a diverse set of clients, ranging from private companies to public institutions, at a national and international level
  • Coordinate and maintain effective work relationships with a wide spectrum of people and nationalities from CEO level to technical experts, governments, and civil society organisations
  • Be part of the CSCP management team and contribute to the ongoing strategic development of the organisation
  • Represent the CSCP externally at relevant events and manage relations with strategic partners and clients
  • Manage human resources allocation for the IWP team, and stimulate skills development, creativity, and cross-team building

You have

  • Completed tertiary degree in a sustainability and business-related field (e.g. business/economics, management, natural sciences, international relations) or social science.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience. International experience will be viewed favourably.
  • Experience in leading a team, either at project or unit level.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, managing a team, business development, presenting and workshop facilitation.
  • Solid interpersonal and communication skills with written and spoken fluency in English, preferably also in German
  • A passion for anchoring sustainability within public institutions, research and business
  • A team building spirit, a can-do attitude and willingness to take own initiatives
  • Proficiency in MS-Office programs (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)


Fluency in written and spoken English and German is necessary.


The CSCP pays according to the public pay scale Tarif-Vertrag-Länder (TV-L).
