The Collaborating Centre on Sustainable Consumption and Production (CSCP) is offering a position as a Project Manager at its office in Wuppertal, Germany.

Starting Date: Jan 2022 (please indicate your availability)

Working time: 60-80%

Duration:  1 year, with the possibility of extension

Are you a native German speaker, fluent in English and interested in working to support mainstreaming sustainability in an international environment? Are you interested in how biodiversity connects to climate change, agriculture, industry and our lives in general? At the CSCP we are looking for solutions to scale-up sustainability in new ways and formats, including the important topics of today, tomorrow and beyond. Your tasks will be:

  • The main task will be to manage the communication tasks for a German public funded project focusing on supporting companies to improve their biodiversity impacts
  • Develop and execute the project’s overall communication plan together with project partners, the CSCP communication team, and stakeholders and act as primary contact for communication-related queries
  • Manage the content creation and delivery of external communications materials, including website content (Backend editing), newsletter, social media (Twitter, Linkedin, etc) for the Project
  • Build and maintain relationships with project partners and relevant stakeholders as well as ensure their alignment and active engagement toward reaching project goals
  • Create comprehensive communication strategies to mitigate risk and ensure project success
  • Independently collect information from relevant sources as well as analyse, interpret and feed the gathered data to deliver impactful communication actions
  • Foster collaboration and learning between the project and the CSCP, thus contributing to a positive work environment and cross-pollination internally
  • Measure, report, and adjust communication activities based on outcomes
  • Independent project management as well as adequate project-related arrangement with the administration

You have:

  • Completed tertiary degree in a communication, sustainability, environmental or biological science, economics or business-related field
  • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant work experience; international experience will be viewed favourably
  • Preferably experience in communicating sustainability topics in general, like biodiversity, circular economy, sustainable value chains, stakeholder processes, sustainable procurement, sustainability product and portfolio assessments
  • Excellent writing, communication, storytelling and project management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and outstanding ability to manage relationships with partners and stakeholders and balance their needs to ensure mutual beneficial results
  • A good understanding of public relations practices as well as media relations and marketing
  • Experience in project management, independent project work
  • Working knowledge on the European and German political agenda and related to relevant frameworks (EU Green Deal, EU Biodiversity Strategy 2030, Germany Strategy of Biological Biodiversity) is a plus
  • Team spirit and a can-do attitude
  • Willingness to take responsibilities, availability to travel
  • Proficiency in MS-Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), WordPress, and social media literacy.

Language:

As the project mainly focuses on Germany, excellence in written and spoken German is mandatory. Considering that English is the working language of the CSCP, fluency in English is also required.

Renumeration:

We apply the TV-L Salary system.
