Student Assistant SBE Team – Circular Economy and Digitalisation for SMEs

The Collaborating Centre on Sustainable Consumption and Production (CSCP) gGmbH is offering a position as a student assistant in the Sustainable Business and Entrepreneurship (SBE) team for up to 19 hours per week.

Timeframe: beginning of 2023 (as early as possible)

Duration:  12 months, with the possibility of prolonging

Location: Wuppertal, Germany (remote work partially possible)

A team of currently 50 multi-disciplinary professionals contributes to the worldwide activities of the Centre. The SBE Team is looking for a Student to support the Project “Mittelstand-Digital Zentrum WertNetzWerke”.

The main task of the student assistant will be to support the team in a project that connects sustainability and developments in the field of digitalisation. In this project, the CSCP analyses how digitalisation can be an enabler for sustainability, with a special focus on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The project identifies tools and mechanisms to integrate sustainability into business models, conducts projects with SMEs and provides trainings for companies. A particular thematic focus is the Circular Economy. The student assistant will support these tasks by:

  • Supporting consulting projects on Circular Economy and Digitalisation for SMEs
  • Supporting the development and implementation of trainings and workshops on the named topics
  • Conducting research on the topics of Circular Economy, Artificial Intelligence, Collaboration and Digitalisation


  • Knowledge and practical experience on Circular Economy and SMEs. Experience on the interlinkages between digitalisation and Circular Economy is a plus, although not required.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Ability to articulate clearly and concisely, very good German language skills. (The project is in German.)
  • Good interpersonal skills, willingness to collaborate with colleagues, openness to different national and cultural backgrounds.
  • Practical experience in working with the business sector is a plus
  • Other Requirements: Good skills in basic computer use, including desktop research, MS Office-Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.


As the project is in German, fluency in written and spoken German is necessary. As the CSCPs first working language is English, fluency in written and spoken English is also necessary.
