Luis is an industrial engineer with further education and experience in environmental management. He joined the CSCP in 2017 as a member of the Sustainable Infrastructure, Products and Services team and has supported the development of projects on topics related to food value chains, socio-economic impacts of digitalisation in agriculture, sustainable agriculture and sustainability assessment tools, among others.

Prior to joining the CSCP, he gained professional experience as a consultant at Deloitte & Touche, focusing on process redesigns, operation analysis, indicator development and PMO activities in projects of the private and public sector. He has also worked as an environmental researcher at the Institute for Technology and Resources Management in the Tropics and Subtropics (ITT), supporting the project “Integrated eco-technologies and services for a sustainable Rural Rio de Janeiro” by developing a forest monitoring toolkit using drone technology and remote sensing software. Furthermore, he worked with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), supporting project acquisition, research and stakeholder engagement activities in the initiative “Business and Biodiversity in Mesoamerica and the Dominican Republic”.

Luis holds a Master’s of Science degree in Technology and Resources Management in the Tropics and Subtropics from Cologne University of Applied Sciences (TH Köln), a Master’s degree in Environmental Management from Universidad Latina of Costa Rica and a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Universidad Interamericana de Costa Rica. In 2012, he obtained a fully funded DAAD scholarship award to pursue M.Sc. studies in Germany and won the award of second best master thesis 2015-2016. He has participated in a certified training program in the process of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) sustainability reporting.

Luis is a Costa Rican national.
