The CSCP to Participate in the European Union’s Circular Economy Missions: How Can We Design Better Production Systems for the Future? We need to design more viable and valuable production systems to enable a good life. Transitioning from the destructive linear economy to a constructive circular economy will benefit us now and in the future. Together with the European Union (EU), the CSCP is working intensely in this area. The European Union is conducting a series of high-level political and business meetings in several countries to discuss problems and solutions for sustainable and resource-efficient systems. The CSCP’s Senior Advisor, Raymond Slaughter, is a delegate to the Circular Economy Mission to Japan in October this year. The missions are initiated by the Directorate-General for the Environment of the European Commission and seek to build bridges between European institutions, NGOs and companies along with relevant stakeholders in third countries who are interested in the opportunities that the transition to circular economy brings. The Circular Economy Missions are conceived with three clear objectives: To increase cooperation between the EU and third countries in the field of environmental policy. To achieve a better understanding of the environmental challenges faced by these countries. To promote green solutions through business partnerships abroad. In this regard, the missions will organise matchmaking events between European and local entrepreneurs and will engage in the exchange of views with targeted audiences. In parallel to this, the CSCP is also contributing to the “EU going global: innovative solutions for circular services” event conducted by the European Commission’s Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises on 24 October in Yokohoma. Raymond Slaughter will be presenting some of the results of the CSCP’s R2Pi project on circular economy business models and policies and opening the discussion on how businesses can transition to more circular products and circular services. This event is part of the World Circular Economy Forum organised by The Ministry of the Environment of Japan and Sitra from 22-24 October 2018, which aims to present the world’s best circular economy solutions and brings together 1,000 key thinkers and doers from around the world. If you interested in learning more about circular business models and the benefits of your organisation becoming more circular, feel free to contact Raymond Slaughter about possible collaboration opportunities or further questions.
