Lena Mai is Acquisition Manager at the CSCP, focusing on funding opportunities and support of project development across regional, national, European and international programmes.

Areas of expertise

Lena Mai’s expertise spans funding research and analysis, opportunity screening, and the coordination of acquisition processes across different funding programmes. Through her work with a broad range of sustainability-related calls, she has also developed a strong understanding of topics ranging from stakeholder engagement and policy to business model innovation, behaviour change, and capacity building. This combination enables her to assess funding opportunities not only against formal requirements, but also in terms of their strategic and thematic fit with CSCP’s expertise and project portfolio.

Current work

Lena Mai supports acquisition processes across regional, national, European and international funding programmes, from the identification and assessment of opportunities through proposal submission, approval and project start. Her work covers European programmes such as Horizon Europe and Interreg, international cooperation programmes including SWITCH-Asia and AL-INVEST Verde, as well as German federal and regional funding programmes.

Through this work, she supports the development of projects across CSCP’s thematic areas, including circular economy, sustainable food systems, behaviour change and digitalisation. She works closely with CSCP teams to connect project ideas and expertise with suitable funding opportunities and requirements, while engaging with funders and programme bodies throughout the acquisition process.

Education

Lena Mai holds a MA of Arts for Modern South-and Southeast Asian Studies.

I believe great sustainability projects start by bringing the right ideas, partners and funding together.
