Meet Us at the Civil Society Conference on Sustainability Policy in NRW on 24 March 2023!

Between insights, strategy, and legal and regulatory frameworks, pressure is mounting for an action-oriented sustainability policy in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), Germany. On 24 March 2023, civil society representatives from the NRW Civil Society Forum on Sustainability will provide topic-specific insights into current sustainability policy after more than 250 days of the governing coalition between the Christian Democrats and the Green Party.

Key topics of discussion will include:

  • How can a more decisive sustainability policy in NRW be promoted?
  • Which impact-oriented strategies are needed?
  • What changes in the legal and regulatory framework are needed to accelerate the implementation of the socio-ecological transformation?

Mona Neubaur, Minister for Economic Affairs, Industry, Climate Action and Energy of the State NRW and will be present at the conference alongside Viktor Haase, State Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Nature Conservation and Transport of the State NRW.

CSCP’s Executive Director, Michael Kuhndt will give an impulse talk on the topic of the implementation of the EU Green Deal and international sustainability objectives in NRW with a focus on Circular Economy and sustainable consumption and production.

Other speakers include Prof. Dr. Anna-Katharina Hornidge, Director of the German Institute of Development and Sustainability and Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Köck, Head of the Department of Environmental and Planning Law, Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ), Member of the German Advisory Council on the Environment (SRU).
