Enhancing Global Collaboration: Our FAB Region Project at the FabLab Conference & Fab City Summit in Mexico Since its launch in early 2024, the project FAB Region Bergisch city-triangle has been supporting a co-creative and sustainable transformation in the cities of Wuppertal, Remscheid, and Solingen using circular economy approaches. In August 2024, we joined the annual FabLab Conference in Mexico City and the Fab City Summit in Yucatán to showcase how the project is engaging key actors and communities to make the Bergisch city-triangle the first FAB Region in Germany. At the FabLab Conference, CSCP’s Adriana Cabrera Galindez, a Fab Lab & Fab Cities expert, highlighted how the project is contributing to the transformation of the Bergisch city-triangle into a circular economy region and integrating community-focused strategies to drive regional development. She shared with the 800 attendees the vision and goals of the project and invited stakeholders and communities from other Fab Labs and Fab Cities around the world to explore potential collaborations. You can watch her full presentation here. At the Fab City Summit in Yucatàn, we led a workshop focusing on the challenges and opportunities in developing FAB Regions. Using the Bergisch city-triangle as a case study, we facilitated discussions on sustainable practices, the role of businesses, and community engagement in building resilient Fab Cities. The workshop was a dynamic platform for exchanging ideas, deepening understanding of sustainability, and demonstrating how global network support can drive local advancements. These discussions highlighted the importance of international collaboration in advancing the goals of Fab Cities and Fab Regions. We look forward to contributing to the global dialogue on how Fab Cities and Fab Regions can support sustainable transformations worldwide.
