Listen to Our Take on How Companies Can Enable Consumers to Live Sustainably in the GRI Podcast Series In a recent podcast series, the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) has focused on how companies can contribute toward a better quality of life for all. Among international experts in sustainable development, both from the private as well as the public sector, the CSCP Executive Director, Michael Kuhndt has joined the podcast series with a focus on the interconnections between sustainable consumption and production. In episode 12 of the series SDGs: The Rising Tide, “Responsible Consumption and Production“, Kuhndt along with Chris Coulter, CEO of Globescan, an insights and strategy consultancy, share ideas on how to encourage companies, governments, and citizens to reconsider business practices and consumption habits and make the best use of impact reporting. Kuhndt focused on how businesses can support people to consume, and consequently, live more sustainably: “It is important for everyone to see the interconnections between production and consumption. It is crucial for businesses to try to understand how they can support consumers to be more sustainable in the use phase of a product, such as by preparing or reusing products.” Kuhndt also highlighted the importance of not simply focusing on what businesses can do to lower their own footprint, but rather how they can contribute to lowering the footprint of society. On this, he stressed the need to come up with ways to measure and track the impact that businesses have in the consumption phase of their products or services. The episode is part a podcast series that shares ideas, case studies, and stories from businesses on how they are engaging with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
