Handprint Pioneer Workshop: New Perspectives on Sustainability

The CSCP held the Handprint Pioneer Workshop at the CSCP in May for companies who are keen to innovate their products through sustainability. Participants from different business sectors explored sustainability opportunities based on different case studies and learned how to improve their existing products and strengthen their position in the market.

The workshop led the participants through three interactive sessions to experience the handprint perspective on sustainability. The step by step approach explained how to identify, understand and create positive sustainability effects, identify sustainability potential and use it for product innovation and implementing these innovations in their product.

The CSCP and its partners developed the handprint methodology which helps companies understand their products’ positive and negative, ecological, economic, and social impact. This methodology is the starting point for product innovation and the key to developing sustainable businesses. A pioneer concept derived from the handprint methodology helps businesses identify how to add value to products and production patterns by serving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Additionally, this concept also helps in innovating across the value chain (e.g. replacing of materials, health benefits for workers) or adding features to the final product (e.g. repairability, customer services).

More workshops are being planned around the handprint methodology in the near future.
