Inneon’s Identification of Highly Promising Eco-Innovations

Sixty planet-saving SMEs are getting “investor-ready” thanks to coaching by theCSCP and a pan-European consortium.

Realising that significant innovations for a low-carbon and sustainable planet do not always reach the market, the EU mandated the INNEON consortium with the task of coaching entrepreneurs and SMEs to achieve “investor-readiness”. With lack of funding as one of the main reasons for such eco-innovations failing to be commercialised, INNEON’s mission was two-fold: to shape the innovations into fundable business propositions through advising on USP, revenue models, competitive advantages, team, and more and to create a network of investors willing to consider INNEON-coached deals as investment targets. This universe of investors is made up of Business Angels, Crowdfunding, Venture Capital, and industrial corporations.

The INNEON process has been selective, coaching some 60 young companies among over 200 screened. It has brought some highly attractive businesses to the attention of its network. For example, Desolenator, a portable, solar-powered water distillation, offers cheap, purified water to those who cannot access it while Hydrogenious, a liquid organic hydrogen carrier at ambient temperature and pressure sold their 1st catalytic system in the USA to load and unload their liquid carrier with hydrogen thereby revolutionising the logistics of hydrogen transport.

Thanks to its pan-European profile, INNEON has also established trade partnerships beyond the home territory and presented the companies to the investor community on its own platform or in cooperation with Euroquity. INNEON has access to Investors from across the continent. Moreover, it has profiled itself and been present at key industry events such as Eco-Summit, the Cleantech Group Forum and the Energy Venture Fair.
Investor reactions have been positive with a dozen of the INNEON-coached innovations having been financed. Yet a funding gap still exists for those 40+ “investor-ready” deals still seeking investment. A new “INNEON impact investment fund” which would provide equity financing to the best deals coached by INNEON is currently being explored.
