Meet Us at the European Mission Soil Week on the 14 November 2024!

The European Mission Soil Week is hosted by the European Commission on 12-13 November 2024 in Brussels, Belgium with the goal of raising awareness on the importance of protecting and restoring European soils as well as promoting more sustainable land management practices. On 14 November 2024, the CSCP will join an exclusive side event dedicated to European soil projects with our two EU Horizon projects, bioSOILUTIONS and iCOSHELLs – meet us there!

At the event, CSCP’s Livia El-Khawad on behalf of the bioSOILUTIONS project and Luca Sander on behalf of the iCOSHELLs project will share more about our work in advancing soil health and overall sustainability across Europe. The bioSOILUTIONS project is aimed at spearheading the adoption of bio-waste based soil improvers, while iCOSHELLs  focuses on empowering key stakeholders by establishing and running six soil health living labs.

The Mission Soil Week takes places in the realm of the European Soil Deal for Europe (also referred to as Mission Soil), a pioneering initiative focused on restoring and protecting soil in both urban and rural settings. With a unique emphasis on innovative research, living labs, and broad stakeholder engagement, the Mission Soil platform is leading the work in alignment with the EU’s soil health objectives.

The platform is at the heart of the efforts of the EU Directorate General for Agriculture and Rural Development  to effectively harness synergies between the 100 European living labs and lighthouses on soil health. Running from 2023 to 2025, the EU Mission Soil is coordinated by Ecorys, Ecologic Institute, and Ricardo.

Central to the Mission Soil Platform are three key clusters: Communication & Stakeholder Engagement; Data & Knowledge Management; and Soil Indicators & Monitoring.

Soil health interconnects with diverse areas like agriculture, biodiversity, climate and resilience, making stakeholder collaboration essential. Through our work in the Communication and Stakeholder Engagement Cluster, we are committed to fostering knowledge exchange and creating synergies among Mission Soil projects, promoting EU-wide collaboration for sustainable soil health.

Are you participating at the Mission Soil Week? Meet us there – we look forward to sharing our insights and connecting with all relevant actors to protect and restore soil health in Europe! For updates and key takeaways from the event, follow the CSCP on LinkedIn.
