Joshua Aseto is a Project Manager with over ten years of experience leading international sustainability and circular economy projects across Africa and Europe. He specialises in project management, multi-stakeholder coordination, and co-creation facilitation, supporting businesses, especially SMEs, design and implement sustainable, circular business models. Drawing on social sciences and humanities (SSH) approaches, he translates research and stakeholder input into practical tools, training, and policy dialogue that accelerate transitions toward more sustainable and regenerative economies

Areas of expertise

Joshua’s expertise spans international project and grant management, sustainable and circular business model development, multi-stakeholder engagement, co-creation, and capacity building. He designs and facilitates workshops, training programmes, and multi-actor innovation processes — grounded in SSH methodologies — that help organisations adopt sustainable practices, while coordinating international consortium partnerships and translating complex research into actionable solutions. He also brings experience in proposal development, funding acquisition, and strategic partnership building across Europe and Africa.

Current work

Working at the crossroads of circular economy, sustainable consumption and production, sustainable agriculture and food systems, renewable energy, sustainable business models, and Digital Product Passports (DPPs), Joshua applies co-creation, participatory, and transdisciplinary approaches to develop practical solutions and support sustainability transitions. His work brings together diverse stakeholders — SMEs, businesses, municipalities, policymakers, academia, and civil society — across Europe and Africa to co-design tools, training, and strategies that create tangible change on the ground.

Previous experience

Joshua has coordinated and contributed to a range of internationally funded projects — including Horizon Europe and Horizon 2020 initiatives such as SteamBioAfrica, CE-RISE, and AlgaeProBANOS — as well as a portfolio of SWITCH Africa Green projects (SUSTOUR, GOALAN, Sustainable Island Mauritius. Throughout, he has built strategic partnerships with international research institutions, civil society, and government bodies. Earlier in his career, he conducted sustainability and GIS-based research in urban water management, adding a technical and spatial dimension to his sustainability practice.
