Joshua has been working at the CSCP since early 2016. His focus is on sustainable and inclusive value chains, youth entrepreneurship and migration to promote sustainable consumption and production patterns in Africa.

He has been working on Switch Africa Green (SAG) projects on tourism and agriculture, which aim at supporting countries in Africa in the transition towards an inclusive green economy.

Joshua holds a bachelor’s degree in Education from Kenyatta University, a master’s degree in International Studies from the University of Nairobi and a master’s degree in Urban Culture Society and Space from the University of Duisburg – Essen. The multidisciplinary educational background has enabled him to gain a set of well-rounded knowledge, skills and theoretical expertise particularly on reconciling and integrating spatial, social, economic, cultural and environmental concerns in development.

In his master’s thesis, he investigated how to use Geographic Information System (GIS) tools to enhance liveability and raise neighbourhood satisfaction through sustainable stormwater management practices.

Joshua is a Kenyan national with a keen interest in the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) especially on sustainable urban development (SDG 11), social innovation (SDG 9), youth empowerment (SDG 4 & 8) and sustainable lifestyles (SDG 3 & 12).
