Call for Application: Join Our Communities of Practice for Circular Cities and Regions in Europe!

How can cities and regions across Europe accelerate the shift to a circular economy? The new Circular Cities and Regions Initiative Communities of Practice project is supporting key city actors to collaborate, innovate, and share strategies on major challenges like urban planning, waste management, and reducing carbon footprints.

The Circular Cities and Regions Initiative (CCRI) Communities of Practice offer an opportunity for cities and regions across Europe to collaborate and accelerate their circular economy efforts. By focusing on specific topics, a first batch of four CCRI Communities of Practice will enable participants to dive deep into shared challenges, exchange innovative solutions, and co-create actionable strategies.

Here’s a quick overview of what’s on offer and how you can get involved:

Key Focus Areas

  • Municipal waste companies for circular cities – Exploring how municipal waste companies can drive circular strategies, from reuse and repair to resource recovery, led by the CSCP
  • Supporting local circular businesses – Aligning policies, financial instruments, innovation support, and capacity-building to create the right conditions for circular businesses to thrive, led by EIT Climate-KIC
  • Reducing material and carbon footprints – Exploring high-impact circular actions to cut resource use and emissions, with a focus on efficiency (doing more with less) and sufficiency (reducing demand), led by Metabolism of Cities
