CCRI Communities of Practice

Circular Cities and Regions Initiative Coordination and Support Action Communities of Practice

With the launch of the CCRI Communities of Practice project, the CSCP is now part of the European Commission initiative on Circular Cities and Regions Initiative (CCRI). As a key component of this flagship programme, CCRI brings together various projects and resources to support European cities in their transition towards more circular economies. The new CSA (Coordination and Support Action) builds upon existing structures, aiming to strengthen coordination and provide enhanced support to cities as they strive for greater circularity.

As part of the Circular Economy Action Plan (CEAP) of the EU, the CCRI aims at the implementation of the Circular Economy on city and regional level across Europe. The support for cities and regions is manifold, with CCRI as a supporting structure for projects such as HOOP or CARE, in which the CSCP directly collaborates with cities and relevant city stakeholders, including citizens.

In particular, the CCRI Communities of Practice project and its sister project, the CCRI-CSA Knowledge Hub have been launched to address any existing gaps in the current coordination efforts. The core of the new CCRI Communities of Practice project is to bring together cities and key city actors in Communities of Practice across Europe.

The project will identify core topics of interest. By setting up Communities of Practice (CoPs) for the cities and regions involved in the initiative and linking them to other knowledge transfer activities, the project aims to provide relevant knowledge, platforms, and exchange formats to the stakeholders.

For the CSCP, the set-up of the CoPs is a core task. Building on experience from projects such as PathoCERT or weiter_wirken as well as other stakeholder engagement projects, the CSCP will lead the coordination of the CoPs.

In addition, the CSCP will also act as knowledge expert on topics related to circular cities, drawing on our experience in projects like HOOP, CARE, Foodloops PSLifestyle, CO2 Performance ladder and others.

The project was launched in 2024 and runs for 30 months under the Horizon Europe funding scheme.
