The VALUMICS project provided key actors like European decision-makers with approaches and tools to evaluate the impact of policies and strategies for enhancing the resilience, integrity, and sustainability of food value chains in Europe. Green Horticulture at Lake Naivasha in Kenya

The overall objective of the project is to equip farmers and Micro and Small-Medium size Enterprises (MSMEs) with adequate knowledge and skills to drive sustainable horticulture, while also improving their access to markets and financial opportunities (in particular for young and female farmers/entrepreneurs). The explainer video is the introduction of the project to the local farmers and stakeholders.

A Banana Goes to a Psychiatrist…

As part of the Action Alliance for Bananas (ABNB) project the CSCP created a video to sensitise consumers to start to think about aspects of the value chain and increase their appreciation of the fruit. It is intended to reach a broad audience, especially consumers – with a good laugh, little moralisation, and images that create a lasting effect. It is made to be shared on social media, with the #bananalove hashtag.

“Cooking is bigger than just having a plate that tastes good”

For our 2016 Unconference we interviewed our partners of the event to tell their stories and how they connect to sustainable lifestyles and the CSCP. Our partner Fridolin Ständer, Wuppertaler cook and owner of the restaurant Zaunkönig, it is so natural to give life to different principles of sustainability in his kitchen, that it almost feels unnecessary to explain it. It is simply so and could not be otherwise. Which does not mean that it is something simple. An act of creation, as he says, cooking is not only about preparing something tasty, it's a bit more complicated than that. Creativity, childhood memories, carefully selected products and hard work are some of the ingredients that Fridolin puts in the pan.

Enabling sustainable lifestyles with new business models

This video was used for the workspace that the CSCP hosted within the context of the Global Green Growth Forum (3GF) pre-meeting in Copenhagen in 2014. It served as the closing station of the gallery walk developed to introduce solutions for driving sustainable lifestyle transition after discussing sustainable lifestyle challenges and opportunities. Based on the research of the EEA/ETC, the video depicts a range of new and emerging sustainable business models that support consumers to organize everyday life and choices in more sustainable way. These go well beyond standard business practices and involve all actors in the chain to find innovative solutions that both add value and enable sustainable living. It thereby opened the floor for a discussion on what benefits these models represent and what actions and strategic partnerships are needed to bring the innovations to scale.

As every multi-generational family, the YOUs face the daily-life challenges with different views and understanding of what happens around them. Their interaction with other people, along the family dynamic, helps each of them to reflect on the opportunities and learning of every day and the ways they can improve their lifestyle. By getting to know each of the family members, it is possible to connect the notions of diversity, inclusion, innovation, creativity and sustainability towards behavioural  shifts and ultimately, societal change. Because even though they live in 2050, they invite the viewer to think on how to live sustainably today.

Ich bins – nachhaltig in NRW

Each and every one of us makes dozens of large and small decisions every day. Should we buy locally grown apples or strawberries shipped from afar? Should we patch our old bike tyre or buy a new one? Do we shift to an energy provider that offers renewable energy? These decisions shape our lifestyles and determine the environmental and social impacts that arise from our choices. The NRW sustainable lifestyles project “ich bin’s – nachhaltig in NRW” (I am - sustainable in North-Rhine-Westphalia) aims to help people make informed decisions while showing that sustainable choices can be fun as well.
