Rami is a Research Assistant in the Sustainable Lifestyles team at the CSCP with an academic background in psychology. He supports sustainability-related research and project work through data analysis, literature and best-practice reviews, system mapping, research reporting, and intervention development. His work is particularly relevant to projects on sustainable lifestyles, behavioural change, and the social factors shaping everyday consumption and behaviour.

Areas of expertise

Rami’s skills include quantitative and qualitative data analysis, data preparation and visualisation, scientific writing, and research reporting. He has experience developing system maps to analyse complex social factors and applying behavioural insights to support project development, as well as contributing to the design and facilitation of workshops. His academic training further includes experimental research design, psychometrics, psychological diagnostics, and research methods and statistics, which he brings into the design and analysis of project-related research.

Current work

Rami contributes to a range of European and national projects addressing food loss and waste, alternative proteins and sustainable diets, migrant inclusion through sustainable food practices, poverty and climate adaptation, urban circular economy transformation, and consumer behaviour insights. These projects use varied approaches, including citizen innovation living labs, social norm-based behaviour change frameworks, and cross-country consumer panels, alongside extensive best-practice research across topics.

Previous experience

Rami’s previous experience spans academic research, international education, and civil society work. He contributed to social psychology research on minority misrecognition and microaggressions, supporting study design and data analysis. He also supported international students, volunteered on refugee-focused interview research, and took part in a binational Israeli-Palestinian dialogue initiative, alongside community projects promoting refugee integration and sustainable, permaculture-based living.

Education

Rami holds a B.Sc. in Psychology from the University of Wuppertal and is currently completing an M.Sc. in Psychology, specialising in Work, Environment and Health Psychology, at the same university.

Rami is a Syrian national.

I believe lasting transformation comes not just from new habits, but from cooperation, empathy, and the values we choose to share.
