The CSCP Launches New Thematic Table on Know-How Transfer and Scaling in Circular Cities in NRW How can we ensure that the valuable insights from innovative projects on the circular development of cities in North-Rhine Westphalia (NRW) are scaled effectively across municipalities and their stakeholders? The CSCP will explore solutions at the thematic discussion table “Know How Transfer and Scaling in Circular Cities” on 20 February 2025 – join us! The new thematic table discussion will take place as part of the renowned Round Table on Circular Value Creation NRW (Runder Tisch Zirkuläre Wertschöpfung NRW). This round table, initiated by the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Economics of North Rhine-Westphalia, brings together key stakeholders in the Circular Economy field from across the value chain. It aims to align circular economy activities and create a foundation for collaborative projects and shared strategies. Cities and municipalities play a critical role in advancing circular economy by establishing sustainable circular infrastructures, but also promoting resource efficiency and reshaping consumption patterns. However, challenges persist in scaling best practices and transferring knowledge effectively. Too often, innovations remain isolated within lighthouse projects, missing opportunities for broader application and collaboration across sectors. Our new thematic table will address these challenges by developing strategies for improved knowledge transfer between municipalities, businesses, households, and academia. By leveraging insights from previous projects, we aim to break down silos and explore how to transform successful Circular Economy practices and innovations into widely adopted solutions. The kick-off event of this thematic table on 20 February 2025 will bring together key actors, including applicants of the EFRE Circular City Calls, alongside representatives from science, municipalities, and businesses. Participants will collaboratively create a working agenda for the thematic table, starting with an analysis of current Circular Cities projects and identifying fields of action for effective knowledge sharing and scaling.
