Student Assistant for the SIPS Team

Working in close collaboration with our partners, our core projects are around topics related to circular (bio)economy, stakeholder engagement, sustainable consumption and behaviour change, sustainable supply chains, sustainability product and portfolio assessments in sectors like food, retail, chemistry, tourism, textile and circular cities, among others.

Student Assistant tasks:

At the CSCP student assistants take on a proactive role and work on a variety of tasks, including:

  • Support ongoing projects through activities like internet-based research of source material as well as literature and content creation
  • Engage in content development for presentations, reports, publications, news items or social media content
  • Conduct research on new funding sources for different projects that the CSCP wants to implement and support in gathering administrative information for proposals for different donors
  • Support the preparation and facilitation of workshops
  • Interact with other CSCP activities in cross-team collaboration

One of your main projects will be the Circular Impact Hub Aachen project, an interdisciplinary initiative to promote circular economy models in an urban context.

In particular, you will be involved in supporting activities related to strategy development, evaluation and scaling and can thus gain practical experience in a forward-looking municipal transformation project. This includes tasks such as:

  • Supporting the development of strategic roadmaps for municipal circular economy implementation through best-practice research and workshop preparation.
  • Assisting in the evaluation of project outcomes by helping develop context-based indicators, gathering and analysing data, and preparing relevant documentation.
  • Contributing to the scaling and transferability of project models by identifying best practices, compiling learnings for other municipalities, and supporting the creation of knowledge-sharing materials.

Student assistant profile:

We are looking for a student assistant with:

  • Good academic and analytical skills and the ability to draft clearly and concisely
  • Good interpersonal skills: capable of working collaboratively with colleagues to achieve organisational goals, with the ability to develop and maintain effective work relationships with different national and cultural backgrounds with sensitivity and respect for diversity
  • Good skills in basic computer usage, including internet searches, in particular, good working knowledge of MS Office-Suite and e-mail applications
  • Availability to join our team for at least 6 months with a possibility of extension based on performance
  • Working knowledge and familiarity with sustainability in general is a plus, though not mandatory
  • Knowledge working with AI is also a plus
  • Ability to occasionally attend meetings or work sessions on-site in Aachen is considered a plus

Language: The CSCPs official working language is English, therefore fluency in written and spoken English is necessary. For this specific position and project, excellent written and spoken German is also mandatory.

Starting date: As early as possible

Location: Wuppertal and occasionally Aachen, working remotely is possible for some of the time
