Behaviour Change Interventions in Practice: Gamifying water use reductions with students in “Game of Showers”

The Academy of Change (AoC) is an evidence-based capacity building programme on sustainable behaviour change designed for leaders working on climate change and sustainability engagement within the civil society sector. The Catalyst built upon the AoC programme by accelerating the integration and use of sustainable behaviour change know-how within civil society organisations (CSOs). Three projects from three different CSOs were selected and supported to implement behaviour change interventions.

This report is part of a three-report series written by the Catalyst pilot leads to share their learnings and advice on how to implement behaviour change interventions in practice. In the report, Hespul, a French CSO, shares its experience in developing, implementing and evaluating “The Game of Showers” project. This behaviour change intervention aimed at reducing the water consumption of students living in a student housing building by using gamification.

The report “BIKEmode: From cars to e-bikes” highlights the experience of CEED Bulgaria to promote cycling as a way to commute to work, while the report “Maintaining OurFish APP use” shares the experience of Rare in the US in promoting sustainable fishing through an APP.
